ALBANY, NY: The first meeting of the NEW YORK CRAFT DISTILLERS GUILD in May drew thirteen members to form the new association whose mandate is to promote and develop the revival of craft agricultural distilling in New York. The meeting was held at the offices of the NEW YORK FARM BUREAU in Albany (a not so subtle reminder to the Legislature that distilling is an agricultural undertaking). Tuthilltown Spirits has been instrumental in the organization of the group. First on the agenda for NY Distillers will be addressing the complex maze of NY Alcohol Beverage Control Law. The Guild has been invited to address the State Liquor Authority Full Board and will also participate in public roundtable discussion held by the NEW YORK SENATE LAW REVISION COMMISSION this month.
